Martin Brent was born on 6 October 1776 in Christ Church Parish, Lancaster County, Virginia.2 He and Ann Chilton were married on 29 December 1796 in Lancaster County, Virginia.3,4,5 He died about 1815.6

Martin was head of household on the 1810 US Census taken in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. The household consisted of four males under ten, two males 26 to 44, four females under ten, one female 10 to 15 and two females 26 to 44. There were twelve slaves9 Martin was 5 July 1813 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. appointed a Tobacco Inspector at Royston's warehouse10 Martin was on the in 1815 tax list in Spotsylvania County listed as Martin Brent estate.11 Thomas Magee was appointed administrator of Martin's estate on 6 May 1815 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia.6

Richard Hall Brent was born in 1792.1
