Biography

Hugh Brent was born about 1728 in Lancaster County, Virginia.2 He and Susannah Payne were married on 6 September 1750 in Lancaster County, Virginia.3 He and Esther Sherman were married in October 1761 in Lancaster County, Virginia.4,5 He and Judith Newton were married in 1766.6,7 He died on 7 February 1778 in Lancaster County, Virginia.2
Hugh was named as an heir in the will of Catherine Newton on 6 September 1760 in Lancaster County, Virginia.8 Hugh and Judith signed a prenuptial agreement 10 January 1766, in Northumberland County, Virginia.6 He deeded three slaves to his wife Judith in a deed of gift signed in Lancaster County, Virginia, on 29 September 1772.9 He signed a deed of settlement quit claiming the estate of her first husband to her daughter Mary Kenner, Mary's husband Thomas Rowland, Judith's youngest daughter Elizabeth, and Elizabeh's guardian Edwin Conway in Lancaster County, Virginia, on 29 September 1772. It was also agreed Judith had performed her duty well as executrix of Brereton's estate.7 He signed a will on 27 January 1778 in Christ Church Parish, Lancaster County, Virginia.10 His estate land division was recorded, on 19 April 1781, in Lancaster County, Virginia.11 His estate was settled in Febuary 1785 with appraisal and division, in February 1785, in Lancaster County, Virginia. with appraisal and division on 15 October 178712

Hugh Brent was born on 16 May 1775.3 He and Mary T. Lawson were married on 9 January 1796 in Lancaster County, Virginia.4,5 He and Alice Martin were married on 5 December 1799.3,6 He died on 16 February 1814, at age 38.3

James Brent and Elizabeth Lawson were married on 25 May 1780.2 He died about 1792.3,4
James was executor and heir in the will of Hugh Brent 27 January 1778 Christ Church Parish, Lancaster County, Virginia.1 He signed a will on 13 May 1791 in Lancaster County, Virginia. The will was handwritten without witnesses. The handwriting was identified in Lancaster County Court on 17 December 1792 by Martin Shearman and George Brent jr.4

James Brent and Catherine Newton were married on 26 July 1727 in Lancaster County, Virginia.1,2 He died in 1750.3
James was named as an heir in the will of Hugh Brent on 26 October 1748 in Lancaster County, Virginia.4 He signed a will on 19 April 1750 in Lancaster County, Virginia. His widow, Catherine Newton, was named sole executrix and was directed by the will to divide the estate among his children upon her remarriage or death. The children were not named in the will.3 He had an estate probated on 11 May 1750 in Lancaster County, Virginia.3
