James Weeks Naturalization
Personally appeared in open Court James Weeks and made oath that he was born at Barming in the County of Kent in the Kingdom of England on the 7th November 1812 that he immigrated thence and landed at Amboy in New Jersey in August 1818 That from that time he has continued to reside within the limits & under the jurisdiction of the United States and that he has resided within the State of Ohio for the term of fourteen years last past and that it has been for more than three years past his bonfide intention to become a citizen of the United States and that he renounced forever all allegiance and fidelity to every potentate state prince and sovereignty whatever and particularly all allegiance and fidelity to William the fourth King of Great Brittain & Ireland to whom he is a subject. That he is now twenty one years of age that for the last fifteen years previous to his attaining 21 years of age he has resided in the United States that he still resides therein and that he will support the Constitution of the United States and of the State of Ohio And it having been proved by the oath of George Russell that the Applicant had for the last three years intended to become a Citizen of the United State and that he has resided for the last 5 years within the U.S. and that by the oath of P B Johnson that the applicant is a man of good moral character and well disposed towards the government of the United States. It is ordered by the Court that the said Weeks be admitted to all the rights and privileges of a Citizen of the United States and that the Clerk of this Court make out and deliver to him a Certificate on demand
