John L. Cochran & wife to Warren Timberlake

Know all men by these presents That we John L. Cochran and Mary Catharine Cochrane wife of the said John of the County of Muskingum in the state of Ohio for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars, to us in hand paid by Warren Timberlake of the County of Morgan and State of Ohio the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge; have given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed, and confirmed; and by these presents do give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto the said Warren Timberlake and to his heirs and assigns forever the following described land or parcel of land, situate lying and being in the Zanesville land district, Morgan County (vez.) the South half of the South East quarter of Section No. 9, Township No 10, Range 11, containing eighty three acres be the same more or less, to have and to hold the said granted premises, with all the appurtenances and privileges to the same belonging, or in any wise appertaining to the said Warren Timberlake, his heirs and assigns forever, to his or their own proper use, benefit and behoof forever, as a good and indefeasible estate in fee simple; and I the said John L. Cochrane for myself my heirs executors and and [sic] administrators do covenant with the said Warren Timberlake and with his heirs and assigns, that before and until the sealing and delivery of these presents, I was lawfully seized in fee of the above granted premises and appurtenances, that I have good right, full power and lawful authority to sell and convey the same to the said Warren Timberlake and to his heirs and assigns forever in manner and form aforesaid that the said premises are free from all incumbrances whatever, and that I do and will warrant and defend the same to him and his heirs and assigns forever, against the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof, we have hereunto set our hands and seals the 25 day of January A.D. eighteen hundred and thirty four

Before me a Justice of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid, personally came John L. Cochrane and Mary Catharine Cochran his wife, and severally acknowledged the above deed of conveyance to be their voluntary act and deed. And the said Mary C. wife of said John being by me examined separate and apart from her said husband and the contents of said deed having been by me made known to her, she on such examination declared, that she did voluntarily sign seal and acknowledge the same, and that she is still satisfied therewith.
