Excessive Damage Caused By Winds
McConnelsville, O.
The high wind, Monday afternoon, did considerable damage to roofs, buildings and trees in this vicinity. About 5:30 p.m. two large trees were uprooted and laid across upper Kennebec avenue, making it impossible for traffic to get through until the debris was cleared away by state highway men.
One of the trees was on the lot occupied by the Farmer’s Elevator Hatchery company and as the tree fell F. W. Cochran and his daughter, Jean, who were driving to their home, nearly, narrowly escaped serious injury as a portion of the tre fell on their car and did considerable damage to the front part of the car.
The other tree was on the Haven Hammond lot and also fell across the highway and limbs from it covered a car belonging to James Huston, which was parked near the Huston home, but the car was not damaged. This tree fell on the electric lines and broke them, causing houses serviced by the lines in that locality to be without power for about three hours.
