Cochran and Shroyer Families

My Ohio Families

About my website

A very brief history of my Cochran and Shroyer website

This website began in 2004 using Second Site, a website program that worked with TMG (The Master Genealogist). The site was located on Rootsweb’s Freepages until 2010. It was then moved to the current host but kept the same format. TMG was discontinued in 2014. I moved from TMG to Legacy. John Cardinal, Second Site’s creator, developed Gedsite which can create websites from most genealogy programs. I started using Gedsite as soon as it came out. The current website is made using Gedsite and Legacy.

Some of my practices:

Living people are not included at all. Please let me know if one has slipped in.

Censuses – Only the head of household and spouse have a census event listed. Check the profile for the probable head of household for children and other family members. This is also true of other events.

Legacy does not have the option of excluding (privatizing) individual photo or document media/exhibits. I was able to do this with TMG but can’t with Legacy. There are work arounds which I use, but I may miss some.

No one is marked as “DNA confirmed”. I do note DNA matches and MRCA (most recent common ancestor) in Legacy, but do not include that information in this website. Please contact me if you have a question on a DNA match.
