James W. Davidson was born about 1837 in Connecticut.2 He and Amelia Susan Stinson were married on 9 September 1867 in Cedar County, Iowa.1
He was a farmer in 1880.2 James and Amelia appeared on the 1880 US Census recorded on 1 June 1880 in Eldorado Township, Benton County, Iowa, with their children Anna B., Sophia, Maud, Frederick, Mylia, and Edith, and Susan's mother Rachel Stinson.2
