Clark C. Conwell Called from Life Sunday Morning
One of Zanesville’s leading old time residents, Clark C. Conwell, 84, passed away Sunday morning at 5:30 o’clock at his home, 635 Brighton Boulevard. He had been ill for the past four weeks.
For more than 50 years Mr. Conwell was in the manufacturing department of the W. W. Harper Co. being in charge of coffee and spices. Later he went with the Conwell candy company where he was associated with his son, the late Ted Conwell, in the organization and management of the concern.
The deceased was married on Dec. 20, 1894 to Elizabeth Jordan, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Josephus Jordan, one of the city’s prominent pioneer families. Mr. and Mrs. Conwell had been married for 64 years. A member of the old Second Street M. E. Church he lately transferred to the Central M. E. Church.
In addition to his widow, Mr. Conwell is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Carl E. Snoke, of the home, and a sister, Mrs. W. R. Tucker of this city.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the late residence. Rev. W. M. Hackenberg will officiate and interment will be in Greenwood cemetery. The remains were removed to the late residence Sunday afternoon from the Mader-Peoples funeral home.
