Alderman and Travis
Mr. Irvin Travis is the Government Storekeeper here, and Mr. C. T. Alderman is the manager of the Stanbery mill. Both held responsible positions during the flood and the efforts of both were crowned with the highest merits that can come to a man. Success. Had the water broken through from the river to the canal at the mill, the warehouse in all probability would have gone and Osceola would have been out of existence. After the danger was over at this end they transferred their judgment and their energy to the other end of the dam and prevented further damage of the west side.
