Carrie M. Stacey Relieved By Death
Mrs. Carrie M. Stacey, 79, a lifelong resident of Wood County, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Glen (sic) Schroyer, at Weston at five o’clock Friday afternoon after a long illness with hardening of the arteries. She had been in ill health for the last ten years, and was bedfast for the last five months.
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church in Portage Monday afternoon at two o’clock with burial in the East Portage cemetery.
Carrie M. Croft was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Croft in Perrysburg on Sept. 30, 1854 and was seventy nine years, three months and twenty nine years old at the time of her death. She lived in Perrysburg until her marriage to William A. Stacey on Jan. 31, 1871. They moved to a farm four and a half miles southeast of Bowling Green in Center township and the remainder of their lives was spent there. Her husband preceded her in death eleven years ago. Five children were born to the union.
She was a veteran member of the Cloverdale Presbyterian church and was active in its functions until ill health forced her to retire. She was a member of the Wiley Relief Corps also.
Mrs. Stacey was a kind and loving mother and highly respected by a large circle of friends in the community.
She leaves to mourn her death four children, Curtis O. and Emery C. Stacey of Bowling Green, Mrs. Nellie Schroyer of Weston and Mrs. Florence Amos of near Portage. One brother, John Croft, in a southern state; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive.
