The Wilkes B. Richardson trial, which was set for Wednesday, of this week, was indefinitely postponed on account of the loss of the indictment and all other important papers in the case, all of which were in the care of the Prosecuting Attorney. This case has already cost the county about $400, and it now stands, on account of the loss of the papers, just where it was before proceedings were commenced. Such carelessness, on the part of a public official, resulting in such heavy and needless expense to the county, is wholly inexcusable, to put it in the very mildest form.
