Roswell Whipple to Jonathan Richardson
Received for Record December 15th A.D. 1831. Recorded the same day.
Know all men by these presents that I Roswell Whipple and Hannah my wife in the County of Morgan and State of Ohio for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars lawful money of the United States paid in hand before the ensealing hereof by Jonathan Richardson in the County of Morgan and State of Ohio the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge and are therewith contented and satisfied. Have given granted bargained sold alien conveyed and confirmed unto the said Jonathan Richardson and by these presents do freely fully and absolutely give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said Jonathan Richardson his heirs and assigns forever the South West quarter of Section No. twelve Township No. eleven and Range No. twelve of lands sold at Zanesville, beginning at South West corner of said Section south one hundred and sixtyone perches to a beach and post East one hundred and sixtytwo perch to the center of said Section South one hundred and sixty one perches White oak and sugar tree West to the place of beginning containing one hundred and sixty one acres be the same more or less of lands sold at Zanesville. To have and to hold the said bargained and granted premises with all the appurtenances & privileges and commodities to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to unto said Jonathan Richardson his heirs and assigns forever to him and his own proper use and behoof forever as a good perfect and absolute estate in fee simple. And we the said Roswell Whipple and said Hannah my wife do for ourselves heirs executors and administrators do covenant with the said Jonathan Richardson their heirs and assigns that they are lawfully seized in fee of the said granted premises that they are free from all incumbrances and that they do warrant and defend the same to him and them forever against the lawful claims of all persons. In witness whereof we have hereonto set our hands and seals this 18th day June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirtyone.

The State of Ohio Morgan County Before me Jacob Fouts an acting Justice of the Peace for said County personally appeared the within Roswell Whipple and Hannah Whipple wife of the said Roswell Whipple signees and sealers to the within deed of conveyance and severally acknowledged the signing and sealing thereon to be their act and deed for the purposes therein expressed. The said Hannah Whipple being separate and apart from her said husband and the contents of the within deed to her made known by me and acknowledged that she executed the same freely and without fear or coercion from said husband and that she relinquishes her right of dower in the within recorded premises. Given under my hand and seal this 18th day of June 1831.
