J. W. Dusthimer Dies in Newark
Aged Father of Local Physician Dies Sunday
Funeral services for John W. Dusthimer, aged 77, father of Dr. O. I. Dusthimer of this city, who died at 12:30 o’clock Sunday morning at the family home in Newark, will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at Fairmont Presbyterian church near Amsterdam. Rev. Emanuel Breeze, pastor of Putnam Presbyterian church will be in charge and interment will be made in the church cemetery.
Death was attributed to heart disease. He had been in a semi-conscious condition for several days and his death was not unexpected. Dr. and Mrs. Dusthimer left the bedside a few minutes before the end. The message awaitd their arrival home early Sunday morning.
The deceased was a descendant of a pioneer family of Licking county. He was born and reared on a farm near Brownsville, where his grandfather, Anthony Dusthimer, spent his boyhood days. His great-grandfather, John Dusthimer, settled in Licking county in 1803, being the first settler in Franklin township, Licking county.
He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church and was an elder in the church for many years. He retired from active life 25 years ago after teaching in Licking county schools and later was one of the leading livestock raisers of the county.
Surviving are the widow, stepmother of Dr. Dusthimer; and one brother, Elmer Dusthimer of Linnville, besides Dr. Dusthimer. Trimmer in charge.
