William J. Bozman
William John Bozman was born August 8, 1853, near Beverly, Ohio. His parents, James and Ann Watson Bozman, have preceded him to the land beyond this vale of tears. Mr. Bozman taught school with great sucess in Washington and Morgan Counties during his youth, from the time he was of the age of 18 to 26 or 27, after which he followed the occupations of blacksmithing and farming at Unionvalle, Morgan County, Ohio.
In 1850 [sic], the deceased was united in marriage to Casie Vaughn, of Unionville. To this unionwere born Bernard E., who is an instructor of accounatancy and commercial law with the Federal Board for Vocational Education, Nauvoo, Ill., and Leland F. employed as traveling salesman, Marietta, Ohio.
On August 9, 1910, his wife, Cassie Vaughn Bozman, departed this life, and on December 20, 1913, he was remarried to Mary Kester, of Barilett Ohio.
In July, 1920, Mr. Bozman was injured internally and otherwise by falling from a ladder, while gathering a swarm of bees, which flew from one of his bee stands. He was stung quite severely. He died suddenly, presumably of heart failure, Friday morning. March 10, 1922, collapsing on the street in front of the postoffice, at Waterford, Ohio, at which place he has been residing during the past ten years. Having moved from his farm in Meiggsville township, Morgan county, Ohio.
He was a mamber of the Methodist Episcopal church, and was for thirty-nine years associated with the Odd Fellows Lodge, Hemlock, No. 289, at Unionville, Morgan County, Ohio. He was elected, and re-elected a number of times to the office of Justice of the Peace in his home township, Morgan County, and at the time of his death was Justice of the Peace at Waterford.
The funeral obsequies were conducted by Rev. C.H. Eichinger, at the Waterford M.E. church, at 2:30 P.M. Monday, March 13, who was assisted by Rev. J.C. Hanna, pastor at the Presbyterian church. who read the Scripture, and Rev. H.L. Ward. minister of the M.E. church. Beverly, Ohio who offered prayer. Mr. Bozman's favorit songs "It Is Well With My Soul," "Going Down the Valley" and "Guide Me, O Thoy Great Jehovah." were most excellenely rendered by a quartet composed of Mr. A.L. Remleigh ?? Mrs.J. Malone, Homer Barris and W.B. Mason with Miss Charlotte Seely at the piano.
The members of Beverly Lodge I.O.O.F. attended in a body. The pallbearers being C.R. Mitchell. A.M. Jorden, E.L. Brown, N.J. Baesel, B.J. Dillehay and Zan Cooper.
The deceased was interred at the Emery cemetery, Morgan County, by the side of his wife, on Tuesday, March 14, the Odd Fellows of Hemlock Lodge having charge of the brief services at the cemetery. Ivan R. Barnes and Well O. Barnes, officiationg.
Mr. Bozman was a highly respected and prominent resident of Waterford and his many friends were greatly shocked to hear the news of his sudden death.
Besides his widow and two sons, He is survived by one brother Charles I, or L. Bozman, Beverly, Ohio Mrs. Jennie Ogier, Los Angeles, Cal; Mrs. Charles A. LePage, and Mrs. Charles S. Brown, Both of Senecaville, Ohio. Mrs. Wm F. Roberts and Mrs. F.A. Pomeroy of Beverly, are his half-sisters.
