Joseph Scott Is Summoned
Joseph P. Scott, 58, of 2318 Summit street, Columbus, a native of Zanesville, died at 10 o’clock yesterday morning following a heart attack. He died enroute to a hospital.
Mr. Scott was born in Zanesville, a son of Bert and Henrietta Weeks Scott. He had resided in Columbus for 18 years.
He was prominent in Veterans of Foreign Wars affairs and was past commander of the 11th VFW district in Ohio and past commander of the Buckeye VFW post in Columbus.
Mr. Scott also sang bass for the Zanesville VFW quartet for many years.
He was a veteran of World War I.
His memberships also included the Neocacia Masonic Lodge and the Grotto, both of Columbus.
Surviving is his widow, Bessie.
The VFW will conduct rites at the D. Harvey Davis funeral home, 16th and Summit streets in Columbus this evening. Friday morning the body will be brought in the Putnam chapel of the Mader-Peoples funeral home where services will be conducted at 2:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in Woodlawn.
