Former Resident Dies in Columbus
Funeral services for Joseph P. Scott, 58, of Columbus, will be conducted at 2:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Putnam chapel of the Mader-Peoples funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn.
Mr. Scott, a native of Zanesville, died Wednesday morning following a heart attack. He died enroute to a hospital.
He was the son of Bert and Henrietta Weeks Scott. He had resided in Columbus for 18 years.
Prominent in veterans affairs, he was a member of the VFW and was past commander of the 11th Ohio district of that organization. He was formerly commander of the Buckeye post in Columbus.
A veteran of World War I, he sang in the Zanesville VFW quartet for many years.
Besides the VFW, Mr. Scott was a member of the Neocacia Masonic Lodge and the Grotto, both of Columbus.
Surviving is his widow, Bessie, of the home.
The Veterans of Foreigh Wars will hold services at the D. Harvey Davis funeral home in Columbus this evening.
Friday morning the body will be brought to the Putnam chapel to lie in state until time for services Saturday.
