Guardianship of William Prescott
In the matter of John Johnson Guardian of William Prescott a minor
Probate Court Wood County Ohio
Please before Geo. C. Phelps, Judge of the Court of Probate within and for the County of Wood and State of Ohio at a term of the Probate Court began and held at the Courthouse in Bowling Green Wood County Ohio on the 31st day of July AD 1876. Be it remembered that heretofore to wit on the 26 day of July 1865 the following proceedings were had and journal entry made to wit
(J2 p513) In the matter of William Prescott a minor July 26 1865 on motion and the proper showing to the court John Johnson is appointed guardian for William Prescott aged 3 years minor heir of Elisha Prescott deceased. Said guardian is ordered to give bond in the sum of fifteen hundred dollars conditioned according to law. Then upon came the said John Johnson into open court and filed his bond with S. Patterson & W. S. Eberly sureties which are approved and Letters of Guardianship issued.
(J3 P155) And afterward to wit on the 24th day of May 1867, the following proceedings were had and journal entry made to wit John Johnson guardian for William Prescott May 24th 1867 1st Report. This day came John Johnson guardian for William Prescott and filed his 1st report and the court having examined same find it correct and that there is in his hands the sum of $15.25 dollars and on motion the further time of two years is given to said guardian and after __ (or affixed) and to wit on the 12th day of December 1873 the following proceedings were had and journal entry made to wit John Johnson guardian vs. William Pescott (sic) his ward. Probate Court Wood County Ohio December 19th 1873. This day came John Johnson guardian of William Prescott and filed in this court his 2 partial account as guardian of said ward. It is therefore ordered, said account be sit for hearing on the 16th day of January 1874 at 10 o’clock A.M. and that notice be given in the Wood County Sentinel three weeks previous to the time set for the hearing of said account.

(J5 P167) And afterward to wit on the 16th day of January AD 1874 the following proceedings were had and journal entry made to wit John Johnson guardian vs. William Prescott his ward. Probate Court Wood County Ohio January 16th 1874. This day this cause came on and was heard upon the account and vouchers of John Johnson guardian of William Prescott heretofore filed in this court for 2 partial acc. And upon examination of said account the same is found to be in all things true and correct and the same is hereby approved and confirmed and the court do further find that there is a balance of four hundred and nineteen dollars & 57 cents in said guardians hands belonging to his said ward William Prescott, and this cause is continued.
(J6 P 256) And afterward to wit on the 3d day of July 1876 the following proceedings were had and journal entry made to wit John Johnson guardian of William Prescott vs. his ward. Probate Court Wood County Ohio July 3d 1876. This day came John Johnson guardian of William Prescott and tendered his resignation to the court which is accepted and also filed his final account. It is therefore ordered that said account to set for hearing on the 31st day of July AD 1876 at 10 o’clock a.m. and that notice be given by publication in the Wood County Sentinel a newspaper printer in and of general circulation in Wood Count three weeks successively previous to the time set for the hearing of said account and this cause is continued
July 3d 1876. This day came John Johnson said guardian and filed his final account which said final account is in the words and figures following to wit.

Guardian Affidavit to Account
The State of Ohio Wood County SS. I John Johnson Guardian of William Prescott do solemnly swear that the above account and the schedules therein referred to contain a full true and correct account of said guardianship in all aspects to the best of my knowledge and belief. John Johnson

And now comes John Johnson guardian of William Prescott and tendered his resignation to the court as guardian of said William Prescott and files this his final account and asks that his resignation may be accepted and that one the final hearing of his account he may be discharged from any further responsibility as guardian of said Wm. Prescott.
And afterward to with on the 31st day of July AD 1876, the following proceedings were had and journal entry made to wit. John Johnson guardian of William Prescott vs. his ward Probate Court Wood County Ohio July 31st 1876.
This day this cause came and was heard upon the account and vouchers of John Johnson guardian of William Prescott.heretofore filed in this court for final settlement and due and legal notice of the time of the hearing of said account having been given and no exception there to being filed the Court examined said account and vouchers and finding them in all respect correct do hereby approve and confirm the same and the court do further find that there is in the hands of said guardian belonging to said ward William Prescott the sum of $586.55 in money and it is ordered that said John Johnson pay over said sum so found in his hands to the person selected thereto as required(?) by the Statute the said John Johnson having heretofore resigned his guardianship which has been accepted by the court and until a guardian is appointed for said ward, John Johnson will hold said sum so found in his hands.
