He was a clerk in a factory office in 1920.2 James and Nellie appeared on the 1920 US Census recorded in January 1920 in 218 South Pine Street, Davenport, Scott County, Iowa, with their daughters Frances and Marilyn.2 He was an accountant in a factory in 1930.3 James and Nellie appeared on the 1930 US Census recorded on 5 April 1930 in Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois, with their children Frances, Marilyn, and a son and nephew Bert Shea Moran.3 He was a finance manager for an insurance company in 1940.4 James and Nellie appeared on the 1940 US Census recorded on 16 April 1940 in 2020 North New Jersey Street, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, with two of their children.4
