Deed Wyllys Silliman to John Cochran, 29 May 1812; Muskingum County, Ohio deed book C:436-7.
Whereas John McIntire of Zanesville did by his deed of bargain and sale dated the thirteenth day of May in the year eighteen hundred and eight sell and convey unto Wyllys Silliman a certain tract of land lying East and adjoining the town of Zanesville for which said McIntire had previously given his title bond to John Green, from whom said Silliman purchased And Whereas the said John Green had agreed to his sale of his right to said tract of land to the said Silliman to sell several persons eight lots of ground being recorded as part of said town of Zanesville, and being numbered from one to eight of the twenty-first square of said Town now know all men by these presents that I the said Silliman for and in consideration of the premises and sum of one dollar to me in hand paid by John Cockran of the County of Muskingum and State aforesaid before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and do by these presents for the consideration aforesaid grant bargain and sell unto John Cochran lot No five of the twenty-first square of the Addition to said town of Zanesville lying East and adjoining Archibald McLans lot on the east and Isaac Van Hornes on the west and being four perches in front and running North to John McIntires line hereby warranting and defending John Coshran his heirs and assigns against the legal claims of all persons and every person claiming under me the said Silliman as witness my hand and seal this 29 day of May 1812

State of Ohio Muskingum County Personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said County Wyllys Silliman and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his voluntary act and deed for the purposes within mentioned And Deborah W Silliman wife to the said Wyllys Silliman being separate and a part from her husband examined and made acquainted with the contents relinquished her right of dower without controul.
