John L. Cochran To Luther D. Barker
Know all men by these presents that we John L. Cochran and Mary Catharine Cochran his wife of the County of Muskingum in the State of Ohio for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars lawful money of the United States to us paid in hand by Luther D. Barker of the County of Morgan and State aforesaid the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge and are therewith contented and satisfied have given granted bargained sold alien__ance and conveyed and by these presents do truly fully and absolutely give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said Luther D Barker his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate in the Town of McConnelsville County of Morgan and State of Ohio containing one fifth part of an acre, Known on said Town plat by lot number thirty four, as will appear from the record of said Town plat duly recorded in Washington County, it being the same lot conveyed by Robert McConnel and Mary his wife to the present grantor, by deed dated the 2 of May 1820 and recorded in the Recorders Office of Morgan County in Book A page 96 reference thereunto being had will more fully appear – To have and to hold the said granted and bargained premises, with all the appurtenances, and privileges and commottites to the same belong, or in any sie appertaining, to him the said Luther D. Barker his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their own proper use, benefit and behoof forever, as a good perfect, and absolute estate in fee simple: And we the said John L. Cochran and Mary his wife for ourselves and for our heirs, executors and administrators, do covenant with the said Luther D. Barker his heirs and assigns, that before and until the sealing and delivery of these presents we are lawfully seized in fee of the above granted and bargained premises and appurtenances; that we have good right, full power and lawful authority in us to sell and convey the same to the said Luther D. Barker and that the said premised are free from all former gifts, grants, or other incumbrances whatever, and that we do and will warrant, secure and defend the same to him, his heirs and assigns forever, against the lawful claims or demands of all and every person or persons whomsoever.
In witness whereof we hereunto set our hands and seals this nineteenth day of June A.D. Eighteen hundred and twenty seven and the fifty first year of the Independence of the United States of America

Personally appeared before me the subscribers, one of the Justices of the peace in and for the County aforesaid John L. Cochran and Mary Catherine his wife who severally acknowledged the signing and sealing of the within instrument to be their voluntary act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and intended and desired the same to be recorded as such_ Likewise the said Mary Catherine Cochran being examined separate and apart from her said husband and being first made fully known and acquainted with the contents of the within deed acknowledged that she executed the same freely and of her own will without any constraint or coercion from her said husband and that she fully relinguished her right of dower to the said premises_ Given under my hand and seal the 19th day of June 1827
