He was a blacksmith through at least 1880, but was listed as a farmer on the 1900 census.7,8,9,2 James and Ann appeared on the 1860 US Census recorded on 1 June 1860 in Sharon Township, Noble County, Ohio, with William, Sarah, and Charles.
