Joseph was head of household on the 1790 US Census taken in Baltimore County. The household consisted of with one male 16 or older, one male under 16, four females, two other free persons and four slaves. one male 16 or older, one male under 16, four females, two other free persons and four slaves4 Joseph was named as an heir in the will of Robert McClung on 16 February 1784 in Baltimore County, Maryland.5 He recieved his share of his father's estate in Baltimore County, Maryland, on 3 July 1790.6 His estate was adminstered by Robert McClung with Robert Royston and Thomas R. McClung as Sureities on 10 May 1834 in Baltimore County.3
